CALL FOR PAPERS
Special issue of CONSTRAINTS Journal on
CONSTRAINT SATISFACTION FOR PLANNING AND SCHEDULING
http://ktiml.mff.cuni.cz/~bartak/CONS2009/
Guest Editors: Roman Barták and Miguel A. Salido
Submission deadline: November 30, 2009
---------------------------------------------------
Motivation and Contents:
Constraint satisfaction techniques belong to the most successful
techniques for solving practical scheduling problems and they have
been successfully though not yet widely applied to planning problems
as well. This special issue focuses on algorithms and methods for
solving planning and scheduling using constraint satisfaction. Both
theoretical and application papers are welcome. The paper must clearly
demonstrate the novel contribution; the application papers should
describe the lessons learned, for example to compare different applied
techniques. All presented ideas must be properly justified.
Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
- Constraint modelling for planning and scheduling
- Global constraints motivated by P&S problems
- Constraint filtering/inference algorithms
- Temporal and resource reasoning via constraint satisfaction
- Preference handling and optimisation in P&S problems
- Search techniques and heuristics
- Integration of planning and scheduling via constraint satisfaction
- Real-life applications
Submissions:
Papers should be submitted electronically via the Constraint's online
submission system <
http://www.editorialmanager.com/cons/>, following
the journal's instructions to authors. Please indicate that your
submission is to the Special Issue on "Planning and Scheduling". There
are no restrictions on the length of the paper. However, papers of
unusual length should be discussed with the guest editors prior their
submission. All papers submitted to the special issue will be
reviewed in accordance with the standard procedures of the Constraints
Journal.
Please contact guest editors for additional information (including
appropriateness of particular submissions for this call or delayed
submissions).
Important dates:
Submission deadline: November 30, 2009
Notification: January 25, 2010
Final/revised version: March 1, 2010
Please consider that a second round of reviewing may be necessary if
major revisions are requested by the reviewers.
