I am trying again to post this.

Hello Grey,
I post here the issue that I wrote you about, so it will be better documented.

Since updating PlainText to version 1.7.3, file sorting ceased to work right. My files are set to be sorted by date. Since installing version, the files are no longer sorted by date, and when I update a file it doesn't always move to the head of the list (sometimes it does. The actual rule of behavior is difficult to decipher).
I am using iPhone 4, current version is 6.0.1.
I tried deleting the app and reinstalling, but it didn't help. Restarting the iPhone also didn't make a difference.
I write mainly in Hebrew (right to left), so this may be related.

Thanks in advance, Ram

P.S. I (otherwise) like PlainText :-) Thanks for this lovely application

Hi there -- sorry for the late response, still not sure what's causing this issue but it seems to occur in some cases not related to right-to-left text alignment. The 'fix' seems to be this:

On a desktop that sync with Dropbox (it's easier there):
1. Open the folder that contains all your PlainText documents
2. Move all your documents out of that folder, wait for Dropbox sync to finish. Maybe sync PlainText after that, too.
3. Move all your documents back into that folder, wait for sync to finish.
4. Now when you sync PlainText, the document order should be correct with 'date-modified'

I'm not sure why this is, but it appears that the Dropbox cache of all the files' date-modified metadata needs to be refreshed after changing to their recommended method of tracking that. Sorry for the hassle!

Hi Grey, thanks for the tip. I did as you suggested: I moved all plaintext files & folders out of my dropbox folder, let dropbox sync, synced plaintext, moved back the files & folders, let dropbox sync, synced again plaintext.

However it didn't solve the problem yet.

There is still a problem, which is involving sub folders. When I view the main folder (Documents) on Plaintext, and set Sort Folders = "To Top", the files seem to be sorted all right, according to date. But when I set Sort Folders = "With Files" (which is what I usually want), the file sorting becomes messed up. Not only that the folders are then not sorted by date, but the files (same files, of the main folder) also become not correctly sorted by date.

Thanks again for your support.

I have exactly the same problem here. Same iPhone model, iOS 6.1.3.
I write in French, so rtl doesn't seem to be involved.

Hi. This bug is still (1.7.6) unsolved. The folders do not get correctly sorted by date.

I have version 1.7.6 also and no problem now (but there was still a problem recently).
