Hello!

Once in a while I get this message when I try to view my Pixie site or
the admin area:

> Database Unavailable

I have a bunch of other applications running on the same database and
they are always available when I get this warning from Pixie. Usually
it just needs some time and I can get access to my Pixie CMS again.
But I don't see no reason for this error. What's going wrong here? Why
does this message appear? My database is definitely up and running.

Did anybody experience similar problems with Pixie 1.2 or 1.2x?

Regards,
NP

Hi NP
The only time I ever had this has been on an oversold hosting platform
- who do you host with? Pixie will only display this message if it
cannot talk to the database server, you might want to ask your host to
increase the number of concurrent MySQL connections your server can
have. Do you get lots of traffic?

Hello.

No, there's not a lot of traffic. Furthermore all the other
applications I run on this server (like phpBB and IPB) are constantely
available. Even though they use the same database server. So this must
be some problem specific to Pixie (or at least the database backend it
uses).

Hi NP
I have been trying to work out what this problem might be but I keep
drawing blanks. I am not sure what to suggest. It might be worth
enabling error reporting (line: 24 of your root index.php) to see if
that shed any light as to what might be happening.
