Good News: Hot Point String Band is available for the Fall Dance Weekend, for Saturday night through Sun afternoon, 10 & 11 November 07. I heard from Hilary Burhans this morning.
I am still waiting to hear back from Tunescape about Friday night etc. But, I doubt very highly they'll decline; they're a young band and have been itching to play a dance weekend. I'll keep you posted, though!
I've looked over the list of tasks for the FDW that we weren't able to get to the other night, and I wonder if we want to hold another volunteer meeting -- a pre-contra dance meeting at Swisshelm, as we had in the Fall. That seemed to generate good response and several new leaders.
Thanks everyone & see you soon.

p.s. WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR SOUND CREW ON FRIDAY NIGHTS. To get involved, please see David, Matt, Cindy, me or just about any of the organizers. Or reply here about when you'd be available to train & to assist at the Friday night dances. Thanks!
Great news indeed! Thanks Ellen. As for another meeting for volunteers, it seems that we should do that closer to the FDW (maybe spring/summer?). And yes, before the dance is a was successful and accessible. Another meeting to discuss workshop/scheduling ideas would be a good task to do asap. I don't think we need a large group for that. My 2 cents. Thanks again! Heidi

I think we should take suggestions for workshops. Ulitmately, because of the spaces, times, etc, it will be impossible to accommodate ALL requests. But, having an idea of what people like, and according to the staff that comes in, we could surely create a good schedule with varied & fun things.

First, I would like to invite more people to join the volunteers list. I had forgotten that google includes a feature to send one time email to invite other people to join.
Cindy can you generate a list of email addresses of from FDW attendees with 152xxx (others?) zipcodes?
I will do some testing before I send anything, because I want to do it right the first time.

Please note that I am in the 16201 zip code; others (Hope, Anna... & other potential volunteers?) are also outside 152xx, so... think your constraints through carefully, please.

One other question: after all the time we spent trying to figure out how much to pay the bands, we forgot to say how much we are paying the callers. Matt, can you remind me what the deal was last year?

Once the performers are set we need to get a flyer together as soon as possible to distribute to dance weekends.Cecil has the flyer we've been using and could make the necessary adjustments ( performers,auction.etc.).
It might be good to have the workshops on the flyer ( we usually say possible or likely workshops and decide on them later ). If we have some things that might attract people it would be good to announce them. I think it would be good to meet and discuss ( probably the people who were at the meeting on Monday ). It could be an evening at Panera's or before a dance. Whatever is best for everyone.
I listed the coordinators on Monday's agenda more to point out what goes into the weekend. I plan to take care of the registration ( if that's okay with everyone ) and know that people who have coordinated some of the areas in the past are willing to do so again this year.We do need to have the housing coordinator's name and e-mail address on the flyer. Cindy has done this the past two years. She may not be able to both coordinate housing and host performers this year so if anyone would like to coordinate housing it's open.
Thanks,
Bob

No, I can coordinate housing and host performers -- I just can't coordinate housing and do sound :-) But Rich Sass is always available to help with housing: he confirmed that to me at the meeting, so if necessary I'll take him up on that.

I could coordinate performersı housing again this year, as Iım already in contact with the bands; but I couldnıt coordinate dancersı housing this year (maybe another year). If this would work, let me know but it would mean that Cindy or someone else would still need to do the BIG housing coordination... (If all hosts were hooked into this email group, it might simplify the job a lot.)
Jim & I have housed Tunescape before, theyıre very easy. Hotpoint Stringband, five-members (four beds, I think) is the group we need a bigger house for.
Thanks everyone,
Ellen

FYI - FDW Sound is arranged (for the most part). David will do Fri night, any early Sat workshops (if needed), and Sunday AM
Curt will do Sat late afternoon (depending on AM), Sat night, and Sunday final dance. Both David and Curt know that this is a tentative and shared schedule. When we finalize workshops, I'll confirm with them re: exact times.
Both David and Curt will be paid for their work.
Heidi
