Hi Group, I am not happy with the rear cockpit side panels that came
with my project, so I am considering making new ones. Any tips on how
to make the creases in the rear cockpit side panel with a smooth
transition.

Regards

Phil,

We laser cut and then form the skins here for the kits. We slip roll a curve onto them the use the bending brake to make the top edge bend and the fade bends. We have special rolling dies to make the slight hug edge at rear ad bottom on those skins. We locate the fade bends not exactly on the stringers so when fuselage fabric is on, the bends look correct. Putting the fade bends exactly on center of stringers makes them look wrong when fabric is on.

Hi Kevin,

Do you locate the bends over or below the stringers, and by how much ?

Best Regards

Phil,

If you check the bends, they should align to the stringers such that the top fade bend is slightly above the center of the top stringer and the bottom fade bend is just slightly below the center of the lower stringer.
