First off, tomorrow, be sure to listen to the show -- 7-9 AM on both
The River (93.9, 101.5 in Brattleboro, online at wrsi.com) and Valley
Free Radio (103.3 and valleyfreeradio.org) for world premiere music
from Recess Monkey, and it's a song that will never leave your head.
Ever. We've also got more new music from Big Bang Boom and Frances
England and Ralph's World. Plus, and this is critical, an analysis of
whether Kelsey Flynn just might be a witch. You can stream the show
afterwards at http://sparetherock.com, but it's more fun to listen
when it's on the air, I think.
After our show, the Hilltown Family Variety Show is in its shiny new
timeslot of 9 AM on VFR.
In non-listening-to-the-radio-machine news, also tomorrow, be sure to
check out Aric Bieganek's CD release party at Cup & Top (11:00 AM) and
the all-day birthday festivities at our sponsor Toy Box in Amherst,
including a 1:00 performance by Roger Tincknell.
Other things coming up:
May 18, we'll be hosting the Nields' kids' show benefiting Safe
Passage (http://safepass.org) at Universal Kids on South Hawley in
Northampton (kind of behind Del Raye, I think). 11 AM, and if you
bring a donation and a piece of your kids' art, you're in, and can
stick around and play afterwards.
May 31, Dog on Fleas at Cup & Top for a free 10:30 show. If you
haven't seen Dog on Fleas, you should. Great stuff from the Hudson
Valley.
AND:
Does your kid want to be on the radio? Record them saying something
like, "Hi, my name is ____, I'm from ____. Are you prepared to rock?"
and we'll use it on the show! (You can be more creative than that,
too, as long as it includes "Are you prepared to rock?" at some
point...)
Hopefully we'll make it at least to the Cup & Top show tomorrow, and
elsewhere, and we've almost always got our little digital recorder
with us, so we can record those bits too. Or you can record it on
your computer and e-mail it to me.
