Are tag searches still limited to a maximum of 3 tags? Any plans to improve this? Thanks

Searches are not limited to three tags. Intersections are.

I have no plans to change this right now.

Sorry for being dense but I don't understand the distinction between a search and an intersection. Can I search for items that have tag1 and tag2 and tag3 and tag4 and ...?

The difference is that search is not limited to tags, but also looks
for the word in the title and description. But you can certainly use
it to narrow things down by more than three tags; in practice that
works well.
