Great for checking dead links. Is this documented yet?

It's not documented yet. Right now URLs in this form should show you
at least a few dead links:

http://pinboard.in/u:username/code:404

We're still crawling the backlog and it will probably take another ten
days to get through it.

I'll have an announcement on the blog and some documentation up soon,
along with info about the new archived links feature available for a
low, low price :-)

Best regards,

Maciej

Excellent feature, I just killed two dead links and fixed a broken url.

Excellent idea! Looks like either my bookmarks weren't crawled yet or
I just bookmark well-preserved sites. Does code work only with 404, or
any HTTP code (e.g. redirects)?

So far the crawler's only made it back into March or so of 2009, so
unless you are one of a very small group of test users, you won't see
any 404's before then. It will probably take another week or two
before the crawlers can clear the backlog.

There's backend support for all error codes, but I've only exposed 404
for the time being, to avoid false alarms. There are a bunch of
sites that give transient 500 errors, for example, or just don't like
being spidered. Once I have enough confidence that the code
reported by a crawler will be the same thing a user sees in the
browser, I'll make pages for all error types available.

Now that the feature is announced, the question is: how much is
caching? And is it global or could it be tag specific, depending on
the pricing model?

I'll have an announcement with pricing info and details soon. It will
be monthly pricing for permanent storage of everything you bookmark,
with some reasonable restrictions to prevent craziness (PinboardFS,
for example).

I've been lost in the internet wilderness the past few days (Italian
Internet is kind of an oxymoron) but am looking forward to rolling
this stuff out once I return to Pinboard headquarters this week.
