I would recommend not using the stable version. IMO our 0.9 development releases are more stable and are being maintained. I haven't touched 0.7 in a very long time. Yes, 0.9 will continue to be maintained in the future. We are still technically maintaining 0.7, but very slowly.

0.9 has supported 1.3 for quite some time. The stable release does not and most likely won't. As a matter of fact the fresh-start branch defaults to 1.3.
