Daniel Speers, writer and filmmaker, turns to the online funding
resource, KICKSTARTER, for his latest film, Infinite, a sci-fi drama.
The deadline to meet the monetary goal is November 12 and with just 3
weeks to raise ALL the funds and meet the goal, the process is testing
the online funding model and the producers’ aptitudes.
Film Logline:
Infinite, a sci-fi drama about a man who awakes from cryogenic sleep
aboard a space craft to find that his mission to start things over on
a new planet has failed.
With funding as the major obstacle to getting any film off the ground,
current economic conditions do not make the process easily
attainable. Speers’ film currently has a 24-day fundraising window
until the deadline. If the goal of $1,200 is not raised before
November 12, all pledges are cancelled and the project receives
nothing.
In the first 6 days of the Kickstarter fundraiser, nearly half the
funds were raised. If the film is successfully funded, Speers expects
to have the final film premiered by the end of the year.
About Daniel Speers:
Daniel Speers grew up in Downingtown, PA, and attended Temple
University for Film studies after 5 years of service in the U.S. Army,
nearly half of them in Iraq. His directed works include commercials
and award-winning short films, his most recent being Clara Te Foveo
and Divided.
