Subject: I can't login and upload
Everything was OK until recently when suddenly I couldn't login and
upload my pics to the webalbums. I've tried all steps described in the
Help (reinstall/switch off firewall, setup IE, reinstall Picasa,
upgrade Picasa, reinstall browser (FF3), contact help desk...).
Nothing works with me, no reply came... It's really disappointing as I
was very satisfied with Picasa before...

Oops. Missed your previous post.
Anyway, if you are still hanging on I suspect since you use Firefox
you might have glossed over the part in the help topic that states you
have to configure Internet Explorer. No matter what browser you use
you have to be able to sign into Picasa Web with Internet Explorer.

Ok. What happened when you tried to log into Picasa Web Albums using
Internet Explorer?
You logged in fine?  You can upload using the browser?

I'm not sure which help doc you've seen, so... go easy on me if you've
already tried this, but sometimes toggling the "Auto detect connection
in IE" works. Sometimes clearing all of your cookies AND certificates
(Internet Options tab > Content) works.

Do you by chance have 2 firewalls running? Sometimes you'll get one
with your internet security package and have the Windows one on at the
same time.

There really isn't one solution for everyone and it can be tough
diagnosing these things.

I can log in using any browser all right - even the upload from the
web form works fine - the problem begins when I want to upload from
Picasa desktop. And I tell you again - I tried all hints to solve this
provided in help and in forums here (I've tackled this since 20th
Sept. - including configuring IE, emptying cookies, certificates,
temps etc., switching FW off, reinstalling Picasa. Whats interesting -
everything worked fine a month ago, then suddenly the upload went to
pee. Re-install didnt help nor upgrading to Picasa 3.

I've noticed posts from some of you saying that you're unable to login
to Picasa Web Albums from Picasa. We are in the process of looking
into this. In the mean time please follow all of the instructions
located here:

http://picasa.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=44339

If you are still unable to login, it would be great if you could reply
with the following info:

1. Where are you located?
2. What type of internet connection do you have?
3. What exact error message are you receiving when trying to login?
(Please include the exact error message including error codes)

I've reached out to some of you offline to gather more detailed
information. Thank you to those of you who have responded. Also,
thanks for your patience as we work to resolve this. :)

I'll be in touch!

I have the same issue.

I am trying to use Picasa and cannot. I am not the admin of the PC ,
but was able to get and admin to download and exceute and install
picasa 3 install. However, I cannot upload. Active X controls are
didsabled and I cannot change it nor have rights to change much on the
PC. I try to upload to picasa, and ti goes to web albums and ask me to
login in and then gives me an error mesage about I might not be
connected to the internet.  Same ID is use to login to google and it
works fine. Any suggestions or should I give up. I have been trying
for a while.

I would send screen shot of error message , but this interface does
not allow that, not does windows allow you to copy the text in the
error mesage.

Subject: Re: I can't login and upload
I don't have any difficulty accessing my web albums from Picasa 2
through IE (I have cable connection), however, when I upgraded to 3
and tried to access the web albums, the program automatically tries to
go through AOL even though I don't have that program on my hard drive
(in fact, it asks me if I want to download the program).  I've been
through all the suggestions, but this continues to happen and I can't
get to the web albums.  Since Picasa 2 was automatically removed from
my computer after I upgraded to 3, I re-downloaded it from the website
(thankfully that is still possible).  Picasa 2 continues to work ok,
so as much as I'd like to access the new features on 3, I'll stick
with 2.  I'll keep an eye on this forum to find out when the kinks
have been worked out of Picasa 3.

Had the same problem connecting from behind the proxy. Solved when I
unchecked "automatically detect settings" in IE and cheched that in
Picasa3.
2 Suggestions:
1. I updated to Picasa 3 from Picasa 2 and did not change a thing in
IE/Firewall, etc. Why did the uploading feature stop working?
2. When logging in to web albums via the web page, there is "e-mail
address" and "password", while in Picasa3, when uploading a web album,
there is "username" and "password". This is really confusing, you
might want to make these things the same (username or e-mail address
everywhere) or give examples next to the fiels, e.g. "username: your
username (not e-mail) at google,..."

I am unable to both login to Web Albums but also to hit "blog this"
because I am told I do not have an internet connection or error 12029
as others also receive. I always run Firefox, but went through the
steps listed in help to try and alleviate the problem. It did not
work.

I am located in Salt Lake City, have a DSL connection and have error
12029 for web albums and "You must have an internet connection"
appears when I try to access "Blog This!".

Everything used to work fine in Picasa 2.7 but when I reloaded that,
everything was saved under local settings leading me to believe it too
did not think I have an active internet connection. This is extremely
annoying and frustrating. Thank you in advance if you can help.

Here a solution that worked for a user (Snowfox) today. Please check
your date and time and be sure that it is correct - not just the time
you see at the bottom left of your screen but the whole date, ie,
Year, Month, Day because it does affect the way certificates work.

I'm still surprised that Snowfox's virus updates would still work even
though the date was wrong. I know mine fails with a bad date.  But...
give it a try and let us know if it made a difference for you.

==========================
Hello everybody!
Ive been feeling like a real genious for about 10 minutes now and I
rush to share it with all of you!
I managed to solve my problem with emailing photos - check, probably
it will help you too!
I noticed that every time I enter gmail site the security warnes me
about expired certificate.
Usually I just pressed Proceed without thinking too much about it.
But today after checking it, i saw that certificate for Gmail site
was
not expired - it was from 2008 until March 2009!
So i went to check Date and Time in my computer and discovered that
it
still was living in 2004!
After changing date and time I can send photos from my picasa again!
Hurra!!!

Subject: Re: I can't login and upload
I have tried to do several things on this and have had extremely
limited success.  To comply with supports request: I am located in
North East Texas,  I am running Windows XP on three computers.  I have
verified this problem on two of the computers and not tried the
third.  One computer originally had P2.7 and the other P3.  The
computer with P2.7 had build 37.32,0 and the computer with P3 had
build 57.53,0.   From reading the other users input I partially agree
with Phil here but only to the extent that they all are having some
type of connectivity issues but not the same, at least not on the
surface.  Earlier today I tried blogging from P2.7, before connecting
I got a message that said "The revocation information for the security
certificate for this site is not available. Do you want to proceed?  I
clicked on Yes and got the same message.  This time I clicked on View
certificate.  I noticed there was an install certificate button on the
viewer.  I installed the certificate and the clicked Yes again and the
blogger opened, imported the image I had selected in P2.7 and I edited
the post and saved it as a draft. I then tried to email the photo from
P2.7 and it worked.   I thought I was home free.  I tried the same
thing on the pc with P3.  It looked like it was going to work the
same, and the blog did.  However, when I tried to email the photo, the
application hung and eventually gave me an error message which I have
image captured but cannot include here.  I then rebooted the pc with
P3 and found that even the blogging function no longer worked unless I
did something with the certificates again.  I then decided to go ahead
and download P3 to the other pc.  Installed it and tried the email
thing...no luck.  I went to blog this again and viewed the
certificate.  I noticed that the data was different from what I had
remembered previously.  I closed the blog thing and P3 to reset the
starting point.  I reopened P3, tried email, it failed.  I tried the
blog this and the above message again appeared.  This time I clicked
view certificate and found Issued To: www.google.com, Issued By:
Thawte SGC CA, valid from 5/2/2008 to 5/2/2009.  I closed the
certificate without installing it.  I then clicked on Yes to proceed
anyway.  The same message came up.  I clicked on View Certificate and
the certificate data was different.  This time it showed Issued To
*.blogger.com, Issued By: Thawte Premium Server CA, valid from
4/29/2008 to 5/26/2010.  Only thing is, this time the blogger opened.
After it opened I got the same message again.  I clicked on view
certificate and it was different still.  This time shows Issued To:
*.google-analytics.com, Issued by: Thawte Premium Server CA, valid
from 5/28/2008 to 6/21/2010.  In the blogger the image did not display
as it had when I had installed the certificate but it had an image
place holder and I was able to edit the blog and save it as a draft.
it then went into the blog manager.  I clicked on the draft and part
of the text included [photo].  I clicked on it and the photo that I
had tried to import from P3 came up.  I then tried to email a photo
from P3.  It performed as the other computer with P3.  opens email
screen with selected photo from P3 but fails on send.  The error
message is "An error occurred trying to send your message. Please try
again later.  Error detailsHttpEndRequest failed (12017)
https://mail.google.com/mail?ui=pb&v-sm&auth=......[268]"  The dots in
the previous entry are in place of the actual authorization data. I am
going to reinstall P2.7 and see if I can replicate my success in
sending an email after by passing the certificates in the blogger.
