to Phusion Passenger Discussions
In about 45 minutes I was up and running on Westhost.
General steps:
1. Download, Compile & Install Ruby 1.8.6 (or the enterprise branch
the Phusion guy suggested) & OpenSSL.
2. Install Ruby Gems
3. Install MySQL gem (it fails)
4. Fix MySQL location, compile, and install
5. Install Passenger gem
6. Install Passenger
7. Modify httpd.conf to add a virtual host & the required modules
That's it. Start to finish 45 minutes. The app is up and running and
seems to be working well so I'm extremely pleased with how this turned
out. It's not very often that a product lives up to it's hype.
I'm sure there are some bumps left to be smoothed out, but for what
seems like a pretty complex product the Phusion guys did an
outstanding job.
