ApplicationPoolServer large VM size

I've read the thread about the ApplicationPoolServer (APS) having a
bug that caused the VM size to grow without ceiling. I also checked to
make sure my version of Passenger contains the bugfix. It does. I am,
however, still observing an increasing VM size. My APS was just using
798 MB of Virtual Memory though i was using under a megabyte of
resident memory.
I also saw that people used Valgrind to debug the previous memory
leak. Can someone give me a brief example of how to use Valgrind to
debug this issue?
