I've added preliminary support for adding/remove/editing external tools in
the "configure" panel.

Give the command a name, which will appear in the right click menu

Use mimetype "default" to apply to all image types, otherwise a specific
mimetype (e.g. image/png)

In your command lines you can specify:
$FULLPATH - to subsitute the full path of the image
$DIR - to subsitute the current directory of the image
$FULLNAME - to sub the full name with extension
$NAME - to sub just the name part of the filename (left part of name before
the last ".")
$EXT - to sub just the extension part of the filename (right part after the
last ".")

this should now be fixed. still not sure if images are updating correctly
after being saved in the GIMP though.
