Well, here goes then.

What's this all about then? I'm a complete noob with stuff like this.
What do we do at meetings, etc? :o)

Hi James,

Glad you joined :)

I'd like to see the group bringing people together to share what
they're up, and interesting things they've learned or come across each
month. I think we'll have a more active and vibrant group if we manage
a couple of talks each month, with beers afterwards.

What would you like to get out of the group?

Best regards,
Stu

Similar to what you've stated really. Would love to advance my knowledge too if possible, particularly of things like frameworks and oop as they're a bit of a thorn in my side at the moment.

Introductions? Righto.

I'm Rob Swan (http://www.robswan.com). I've been a full time PHP
developer for the last five years.

I wrote a few A List Apart articles when I was freelancing
(http://www.alistapart.com/authors/s/robswan), but have been too busy to
write throughout my last very busy job role.

I've just reverted back to freelancing again in order to facilitate
setting up my new project (http://www.opendoorinternet.co.uk) where I'll
be providing web development training and employment for the long term
unemployed.

Why am I interested in the group? Despite working as the lead programmer
on a number of high profile and very complex websites, I've only been
introduced to the MCV paradigm and Zend Framework in the last few weeks,
and as such the idea of a group is VERY appealing: I've repeatedly seen
first hand that if you work within a bubble you risk picking up bad
practices and missing new developments.

Looking forward to PHP SW!

Hi all
I've joined the group, because I have a guilty love of coding! I love
to chat about architecture, best practices, security, performance
issues and my wife is beginning to get tired of it...
It's been my experience that you always learn faster in groups than
you do alone, and who knows, you may even start the odd movement
within the coding world.
Looking forward to sharing ideas with the group
