Just a reminder that Simon Phipps, Open Rights Group director, will be giving a talk on June 12th at 7pm in the Town Hall Tavern in Manchester (just by the square behind the town hall).

All the details are on
http://www.meetup.com/ORG-Manchester/events/121186352/

We'll dig into the invasive and over-reaching Communications Data Bill that was shelved in the UK at the start of May, but already re-animated. We'll see it's problems and consider how to finally put this zombie to rest.

Where and when do PHPNW Group actually meet up?

I have been scouring the emails from the Group but it never seems to appear!

Talks normally start at around 7pm, although people tend to congregate (and drink) from about 6pm onwards :)

Some of you might find this article interesting; it's about achieving 'immunity'
from UK snooping laws:

https://fsfe.org/news/2012/news-20120616-01.en.html

I wrote it last year about the Snooping Charter.

Best,

Sam.
