Hi all!

Strange query, but here goes... Is there anyone on this list that is Manchester (city center) based that would consider themselves knowledgeable about Git and would be open to answering a few newbie questions over a pint?

I've just started with it and while I can do most things I need to, there are a few things I can't figure out and a few concepts I could do with talking through...

So yeah - Git and a few beers - anyone game?

Hi,

Why not come to the next PHPNW? It's the first Tuesday of the month, so 7th May. Though I'm sure someone would be happy to meetup over a beer, though!

Alan

I'd agree with Alan - if the meet is on when I'm around I'd be glad to help.
Cheers

Or indeed, put the questions into words and ask the list? :)

In the meantime, you could check out http://gitready.com/, which has loads of good examples of doing stuff with Git.

Or if you're familiar with svn, try https://git.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/GitSvnCrashCourse

You can also download the Git Pro book as a PDF for free : http://git-scm.com/book This book is great and looks at everything to do with git.

Once you know how git works in the background things make a lot more sense ;)

GitHub have also got a git game for you to try

I've just started with git. To begin with I installed git and started committing files, not really knowing what I was doing. After a while I started to use branching and now I'm pushing to remotes and the like.

Good luck!
