Good morning all.

I'm currently weighing up my options and, given that I've been a little disconnected from the Newcastle scene, was wondering if there's much demand for PHP devs at the moment?

I have to keep quiet for the moment, I can't tweet out, so that hinders my research a little bit. If anyone (or knows of anyone who) is looking, I put a quick CV together on my site (http://www.jonpark.co.uk/).

Thanks.
Jon

From what I can tell from twitter and speaking to people the demand for PHP freelancers is pretty high.

Yes, there is plenty of PHP work out there and for someone with, say,
your skills I would say there are plenty of options freelancing. I
can't think of anyone at the moment but earlier in there were a few
friends looking. If I hear of anything I will mention it.

I would kind of second what Sam and Alistair have just said, the only caveat (and this solely depends on what you are looking for in a job) is that there doesn't seem to be that many good companies 'doing cool things'. Maybe that's just the nature of a relatively young tech scene, in the North, where there are a lot of clients to 'service' digitally, but the vast majority of jobs are for 'Agency X building a small website for company B'. If you don't want that type of work, there isn't actually that many jobs.

I believe this group is public?

Thanks Matt.

It is, I know, but it's a bit like talking quietly in the corner of the room. No one from my company is on here and my bosses know the score.
