I have an application that needs to download files/images to local
storage if the server(where the images are stored) got updated at some
point.
I would like to download these new files from my server and save them
on my phone.
How can I save the files locally on my phone so that the next time I
want to use these new files they are on my mobile, and I know where
they are stored.

You'd need to write a plugin to do this.

We seriously have to add this functionality to the FileTransfer class.

Alexander, bare minimum you should do a pull request on phonegap-plugins so everyone can find these plugins easier. Even better would be for your to fork callback-android and callback-ios and add this functionality to the FileTransfer object. This would be a great feature to get in before the 1.3 release. Let me know if you need any help.

You are right, it is a good idea.
Hope, that I have some time tomorrow. Never done a pull or fork before
on github (blush).

Thanks, I've already commented on the Android pull request.
