Can we transcribe in the IPA Target Line, using the ext IPA symbols?
it's possible to add them to the IPA that we use to transcribe in
Phon? because ext IPA is very useful to transcribe abnormal speech...I
think adding that could improve the program. I like very mutch the
program to work with pathology sygnals but the IPA is not enough...
I would like to know if I can include phon i some classes that I have
to give, about acoustic annalysis of speech..could I present Phon to
my co-workers and students in Colombia? I would love to include Phon
and CLAN in some classes...

I haven't seen any response to this yet. The problem is not in Phon, but in the font that would
display Phon characters. We are researching how to get a font that can do this. Right now, I haven't even been able to locate a chart of the Unicode values of extIPA. I can't provide any time
line yet on resolving this. If anyone knows of a Unicode font that represents ext IPA, could they please tell us? Or even just a summary of the Unicode locations of the extIPA characters?

Ok thanks for the answer, I need to know if I can present Phon in my classes at the university...is it possible?do I need a permission ? or I can teach to my students how to use Phon...I teach acoustic annalysys of speech and transcription using the IPA...to languge pathologysts, so Phon is perfect.... and I am looking for the unicode fonts...

Dear Angela,
All of the software in the PhonBank and CHILDES projects is provided without cost and can be freely installed without further permission. Good luck with trying to locate extIPA fonts. This could be more difficult than one might imagine. We may need to contact SIL for help on this.

Sorry it took me a few days to investigate the issue. A certain number of characters from ExtIPA are present in the two Unicode fonts we typically recommend to use with Phon: Charis SIL and Doulos SIL. However the set appears (at first sight) to be incomplete.
This coming fall, we will investigate this issue with people behind the development of ExtIPA, in an attempt to provide full support for the set. Thanks for bearing with us in the meantime.
As for all of your questions, I believe that Brian has answered them all. I also have a few bits of material for teaching Phon, which I would be willing to share with you as well.
