Good for you! We need to let them know that we care about stuff like
that. First there was Sex and Violence--we got ratings. Now I'm hearing
pressure building up to do it for cigarette smoking being made glamorous
in movies. BD ("Bad Driving " scenes) is next!!

Jeezus. You guys are using a perfectly innocent transportation newsgroup
to plot to censor the friggin world. First of all, saying that smoking
glamorization and bad driving should be somehow censored in movies is
remarkably short-sighted. These restrictions to what can be broadcast
are more and more petty and primly fascistic. What will be censored
next? Scenes which might provoke abnormal thoughts in any person, child
or adult? Scenes which contain creativity? Why the hell do you think
that would help anyway? Try changing the system which created the
tobacco and auto industries with massive subsidy at the public expense
instead. I am completely opposed to both smoking and auto proliferation,
but you guys are completely out of line. It is this kind of anal Tipper
Gore-ism that turns decent progressive-thinking people against all
liberalism because it is PC. You are basically giving reactionary
Republicans loads of material to use against you. Do you know why the
90s were not the liberal decade that everyone thought they would be?
Because PC proliferated in the early part of the decade and disgusted 90%
of the country. This gave everyone a convenient pigeonhole to stick any
progressive movement into, whether it was warranted or not. Have some
frikkin perspective!!!!
