operation including accounting operations, financial controls, internal and
external reporting, planning and budgeting, bank relations and cash management,
inventory management systems serving multi-locations, procurement systems,
and supported these efforts by implementing state of the art MIS systems.
Generated $3 million in additional sales by creating a captive equipment
leasing division.
Reduced response time for customer service requests by 50% by implementing a
multi-warehouse distribution system servicing a 25 dealer nationwide network.
Improved productivity by implementing a computer systems network serving

CONTROLLER - INTERNATIONAL MAIL ORDER GROUP 1978 - 1982
$400 Million book publisher. Mail order operations in London, Johannesburg,
Sydney, New Zealand. A newly created position charged with reorganizing and
upgrading all accounting and operating support systems. Coordinated the
transfer of headquarters data processing expertise to offshore operating units
utilizing local data processing service bureaus. Negotiated credit facilities
with local lending institutions.
Directed, on site, the consolidation of the Australian and New Zealand
operations, resulting in net overhead cost savings of $2 million.
Designed and implemented new internal accounting and auditing procedures
resulting in more effective accounting and financial reporting to corporate,
and significant reduction in external auditing fees worldwide.
Restructured international transfer pricing policy, improving relations between
parent and subsidiaries, and accommodating foreign tax authorities.
