Description: This position will be responsible for designing, deploying, maintaining and supporting technology solutions including systems, databases and related applications utilizing Oracle and MS SQL on an IBM platform.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
,, Work with business contacts to understand business needs and design technology solutions.
,, Design end to end solutions including systems, applications, and databases, databases including schema and table layouts, underlying disk configuration, backup process, high availability and all other configurations, engaging vendors and consultants as appropriate
,, Deploy designed solution including physical and logical system installs, application installation and tuning, and database creation and customization
,, Understand customer requirements and define initial and ongoing capacity needs.
,, Develop and test service recovery strategies and perform data restoration activities as required.
,, Identify on-going improvement opportunities.
,, Monitor and troubleshoot all production, development, and test databases and supporting systems and applications.
,, Perform service restoration in event of issue including working with vendors to ensure timely response to problems.
,, Serve as point of contact to internal and external customers through problem resolution
,, Perform ongoing operational activities, problem management, user assistance and training as necessary
,, Monitor and ensure adequate capacity
,, Perform ongoing system, database and application performance tuning activities.
,, Provide off-hours support as required to perform job functions and ensure service delivery
,, Gain understanding of applications that utilize databases and monitor and troubleshoot application issues that impact database performance and stability and overall service delivery.
,, Perform application upgrades and patching as appropriate.
,, Work with other areas of IT to troubleshoot and resolve service issues.
,, Install and configure systems and databases in support of design
,, Perform ongoing upgrades and patches as required
,, Develop, review, and support SQL code, stored procedures, triggers, etc.
,, Perform production review of in house written code and assist developers in optimization and troubleshooting
,, Perform production code elevations following change management procedures
,, Understanding of security impacts of actions and adherence to company guidelines
,, Assist in development and modification of security guidelines
,, Act as advisor to internal and external customers on security issues
,, Assist in development of departmental policies and procedures
,, Define and assist in deployment of Process Improvements
,, Development of Support Services procedures and staff.
Requirements:
,, Bachelor's degree required
,, 2-5 years' experience supporting complex system and database
,, Excellent written and verbal communication skills
,, Effective team member on concurrent tasks/projects.
,, Ability to act as a team lead.
,, Attention to service excellence and detail.
,, Excellent analytic, communication, interpersonal skills, and customer relation skills.
,, Excellent troubleshooting skills.

,, Develop and maintain network documentation
,, Unix experience, preferably AIX and Red Hat Enterprise.
,, Korn shell scripting.
,, Oracle 10gR1 through 11gR2 experience in an AIX & Red Hat environment.
,, Grid Control 11gR1 management.
,, PL/Sql scripting experience.
,, RMan backup management experience.
,, Dataguard with data broker experience via Grid Control.
,, Sql Server 2K through 2008 R2 experience.
,, Sql Server in clustered environment experience.
,, T-Sql scripting experience.
,, Sql Server using linked server experience.
,, Experience with backup and recovery of multiple large scale systems and databases
,, Microsoft BI environment management a plus.
,, Sql Server connectivity to Oracle via linked servers a plus.
,, Experience with disaster recovery and database replication strategies a plus
,, AIX. Oracle, SQL certification a plus
