Description: Job Summary: The aInfrastructure Architecta provides technical input to Ally projects, and monitors conformance to technical standards. Serves as technical infrastructure expert to project teams from idea through to deploy. Aligns infrastructure architecture to pragmatic and strategic solutions. Promotes re-use. Participates in proof of concepts to assist in defining technology direction and enabling business strategy. Communicates and validates infrastructure architecture with the wider architecture team, program / project manager, executive level stakeholders. Overseas infrastructure portfolio support. No direct reports, but responsible for leadership activities with Subject Matter Experts and third party vendors.
Key Activities: aGlobal Tech and Ops (GTO) - Infrastructure Support aDelivers infrastructure support to meet evolving business requirements, cost effectively aLeads infrastructure initiatives aReviews impact of new requirements/ acquisitions/projects on infrastructure aCreates necessary deliverables required to support infrastructure purchase/deployment aConducts quarterly planning reviews aProject Support aProvide Infrastructure support/knowledge to business unit solution architects aCreates necessary deliverables required to support infrastructure purchase/deployment aDrives vendors to produce deliverables for review and provides oversight direction aContributes to the Ally project process by providing the necessary approvals at each stage of a project aAttends project and tollgate meetings aProvides positive direction to influence vendors aContributes to product selection process aPlatform Standards aWorks with architects to ensure compliance to standards and long term strategy aMonitors project conformance and reports deviations aReview Disaster Recovery compliance and impact on new deployments or upgrades
Essential Skills: a5+ years experience in a technical solutions role aBroad knowledge of IT infrastructure architecture aProven experience of delivering IT solutions within a set budget and within a set timeframe aAbility to work at all levels of the organisation aExcellent communication skills, written, oral and presentational aInnovative in approach to problem resolution aPrevious experience in the role, preferably in a multi-national organisation aHP-UX, Solaris, AIX and Wintel disciplines desired aPro-active problem solver, adept at getting to the root cause of problems and executing a workable solution aAbility to travel as needed aSelf starter Preferred SKills: aExperience in IT security standards aExperience in IT operations aExperience within outsourcing environment aAwareness of project methodologies (e.g. Prince2)
