Subject: Mate Desktop

Hi All ...

i will be uploading to the testing section of the 32bit repo the Mate
Desktop rpm's for testing ...

these are purely alpha and can and will break a working install ... i would
advise only testing in VM at the moment and not a production system

http://phinxdesktop.slyip.net/images/mate.png

Please leave all findings and testing here ... Please also be advised that
this is a requested environment and is not the default for Phinx ... my
knowledge in testing and tweaking is limited with this environment so
testing is only for advanced users who know what they are doing

Kori

Kori, I am going to test MATE simply because I have it installed on a few
other distros but this may seem like a dumb question but do I need to add
something other than "unsupported" to your repo? say something like
"testing? thanks.

okay well, I installed everything I could find or think of related to MATE
but when I try to log in to the MATE session, I just get a black screen
with a busy cursor. I must of missed some packages.

ok download and extract the following to your /home/user directory ...
these are the mat configuration directories .... GDM has a few issues
creating them

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5639762/mate.tar.xz

then reboot .... at gdm screen select 05MATE as the session and choose for
this time only ... it will apply the extracted configs then :D

brings up the command line.
