Hi all!

Given that the diversity of our networks and individual areas of
expertise is likely the most valuable group resource at this early
stage, why don't we "pass the mic" and introduce ourselves? I'll start...

I guess I'll go second.

I'm Colin.

I edit video at Thomas Jefferson University, everything from talking
head conferences to surgeries.

Prior, I was heavy into my college radio station WGLS. I did promo
production, on-air shifts, and set up the website/podcasts for the
station.

I've also done sound design as an intern at MSNBC.

I'm @radiocolin on Twitter.

My reel is at www.radioboy.us.

Great idea Greg!

I'll keep my intro brief:
I'm Alex, co-founder of IndyHall and supporter of coworking in Philadelphia and everywhere.
In my past lives I've been a computer repair tech, I've worked sales, and I still actively work as a web developer with strong focus on best practices and open standards.

I enjoy karaoke, snowboarding, traveling, and great food and drinks.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone better, and moving this initiative forward together!

Hi Folks!

I'm Jonny Goldstein. Missed this first meeting, but definitely
interested in these happenings.

Recently moved to Philly after a couple of years in DC and 10 years in
NYC. Currently a full time member at Indy Hall.

Since April 2008 been independently producing video for non-profit and
for profit clients.
Been blogging at http://jonnygoldstein.com since 2004

I was an active part of the NYC videoblogging scene 2004-2006 and am
tight with a lot of
folks on the yahoo video blogging group

http://videoblogging.yahoogroups.com

Designed and ran a program in the Bronx where we taught over 100 teens
from low income families how to videoblog over the course of a school
year.

Graduated from the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU in
2004

For my thesis project I did a one man show with a set of electronics
embedded coveralls with which I could trigger audio wirelessly.

Exec produced and hosted a live, interactive, streaming video talkshow
called "Jonny's Par-tay" where I interviewed people who did
interesting stuff with social media such as Loic LeMeur the CEO of
Seesmic.com (an innovative web video social community)

Was the producer of new media for the National Community Reinvestment
Coalition (a group devoted to combatting abusive lending practices) in
DC in 2007-2008

Was part of the video art cooperative Dorian Orange to make video art
for music and promotional events in NYC 2001-2002 including doing the
visuals for the Detroit Electronic Music Festival

I enjoy being on camera and have done a lot of public speaking and
some stand-up comedy

Big fan of the use of hand drawn imagery in video to help explain
stuff (e.g. I love what http://commoncraft.com do)

It's been a week since our great brainstorm meeting at National
Mechanics. I know folks are busy with the holidays, but I also *know*
there were more than FIVE of us in attendance.

Come on, this is *our* list, and it's in *our* interest to find out
who's involved.

Let's go. Pass the mic and introduce yourselves...

Thanks for the kick, Greg. I'm interested to hear more from everyone, including if you've had a chance to talk to anyone that DIDN'T make the brainstorm meetup and what they had to say!

Hi there, I'm Tim Moyer (I usually spell it Timoyer for branding purposes)

I'll be graduating from the University of the Arts in May with a bachelors degree in Multimedia.

I'm passionate about multimedia journalism. For my senior thesis project I'm creating a documentary that explores the impact that immigration from Mexico into the United States has on families in both cultures. To learn more visit www.ProximaLejos.com

My love of travel and photography has driven me to interface with many cultures and invest in telling stories. Photography.Timoyer.com

I'm employed by the Franconia Mennonite Conference as an Associate for Communication. This is an association of about 40 Mennonite churches along the eastern seaboard.

I also study psychology and have recently been jumping into voice acting. I have an array of equipment and love to collaborate on projects.

Over the winter break I'm updating/adding to my portfolio site www.Timoyer.com

I'm excited about networking with other serious artists in the city and look forward to getting to know all of you!

Hey IndyHall and PhillyMediaMakers,

A friend told me about this group but I missed the last meeting and I
think I'm missing the next one as well, but I wanted to introduce
myself and make myself available.

My name is Bunker Seyfert and I am a cinematographer based in
Philadelphia for the next year.

I have a website with my name in it as well, sort of, http://bunkerfilms.com/

Now to talk about myself... ugh, I do video editing on Final Cut and
Avid, I am currently in Germany until Jan 15th editing a feature
documentary http://deseo.com/ and when I get back I'll be editing
another documentary. So I do most all aspects of filmmaking, working
technically and with the camera being my strongpoints.

So yeah, I hope I can be of some help and a meeting happen that I can
make.

Thanks for the opportunity,
-bunker

Oh, heck. I've put this off long enough.

I'm Becky Clawson.  I work for The Recording Academy Philadelphia Chapter -- one of 12 offices of the organization you probably know best for the GRAMMY Awards. We do a lot more apart from the awards including industry and career education for high school and college students (GRAMMY U, Up Close & Personal With... series, GRAMMY Career Day, etc.), professional development and networking programming for music industry professionals (from artists to engineers to PR agents and everything in between), advocacy in Washington, charitable support through MusiCares, and more.

I studied mass media, audio production, and music industry at Temple (under "Communications").

I fancy music, being crafty, and general geekery.

The first, introductory meeting was fascinating and exciting; I'm looking forward to further discussion and collaboration!

Hello Everyone,

I suppose I could start off lamely with “I’m a local filmmaker…” but
then you’d have to say “well, duh… why else would you be here?” Let’s
try this…

Hi, sorry I missed the first meeting. I would like to make a really
cool excuse here but I simply missed the meeting. Sorry. I really
wanted to go and help with the brainstorming session, but I messed
up. I have no intention of missing the January 12th meeting, even
though I have no social skills!

I am the director of a 14-member film crew. We only recently
assembled this team and have yet to work together on a project, but we
have some scripts written and are in pre-production on two of them.
We plan to start out by filming some shorts very soon to gel as a team
and then some spec commercials that we’ve written. We’ll see what
happens after that.

One of our biggest hurdles is/was/has-been finding filming locations;
hopefully, this will help us with that effort. I also think that
having others with whom to collaborate and bounce ideas will help our
crew and those around us, so we are looking forward to getting
together with the others in this group and seeing what happens.

As far as our production capabilities, we have quite a bit of
equipment and a fair amount of ability. I have been working in the
industry off-and-on for more than a decade; a few other people on the
team are also very experienced. We also have several younger members
who are with us to learn about film production (and lift the heavy
equipment…lol). We have four HD cameras between us, as well as a
bunch of lights, some sound equipment and we have our own editing
equipment, too (along with three editors).

I will be sending an e-mail to the rest of my team momentarily and
encouraging them to join the e-mail list, so I hope you see a bump in
membership shortly.

Hi everyone!

I wasn't at the first meeting but attended tonight's meeting. I'm
Lauren Galanter. I'm a videoblogger, video editor, and media designer.
Right now I work for My Damn Channel (www.mydamnchannel.com) which is
based in NYC, as their content manager (and 5 other things. It's a
startup!). I work remotely down here, out of Indyhall a lot.

What I'm passionate about now: open source tools, participatory media,
web standards and video on the web.

In the past I've worked at area production companies in production,
coordination and done some freelance projects as well. I've produced
live multimedia shows, edited trailers, directed my own short films
and helped out with www.aliveinbaghdad.org

I'm pretty hooked into the online videoblogging community like Jonny
is. Locally, I've got contacts at the Philadelphia Independent Film
and Video Association (www.pifva.org), the Greater Phila Film Office
(www.film.org) and various production companies and freelancers.

My linkage:
http://laurengalanter.com/about has all my social network links and
more about me

Other than that, I'm into photography, cooking, sci-fi nerdage and
reading good books.

Cheers,
Lauren

Hey everyone:

I was at the first meeting, but felt generally cruddy tonight and was disappointed that I didn't feel up to coming out.

In any case here is a bit about me:

I am an interactive designer passionate about helping people, solving problems, and designing for experience. Specific areas of interest include visual culture, information design, and cross-cultural communication.

I am a fresh graduate of the Multimedia BFA program at the University of the Arts. I also hold an Associate of Arts in Applied Communication from Delaware County Community College.

I recently finished an internship at Electronic Ink, a design and usability consulting firm in center city. Currently, I am on the hunt for a challenging (and hopefully fun) job.

In my free time (which has increase in the past several weeks), I love to catch up with friends, make new ones, share ideas/brainstorm, and go to small concerts/shows.

That's plenty for now, but I hope to meet more of you at the next meeting.

Until then, feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn or Facebook, or follow me on Twitter!

All the best,
Julia Pellicciaro
