I hope someone can rest my mind. I just booked our first cruise. My husband was diagnosed with celiac in 2007. This will be the first time we will be going away since the diagnosis. I think I'm more worried than my husband is. But he was so sick and is now starting to feel better. We are going the the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Has anyone cruised with them and what are some things I should be aware of? Any suggestions? Thanks for you help.

I suggest calling the cruise line now in advance of the trip to advise
that your husband is on a gluten-free diet so that the kitchen can
have food on hand . You should also speak to the maitre'd at your
dinner seating so that he/she can look out for him as well. We cruised
on Royal's sister line, Celebrity, and they were great. They had
gluten-free bread on hand and they made pancakes and brownies.
Cruising gluten-free is relatively easy.

I have cruised with Royal Caribbean two times now, and they are more than accommodating to those with gluten-free diets. I do recommend calling ahead of time as well.

Hope this puts your mind at ease!
