My goal this year was to improve by 2 stones. Didn't quite make it.
But I WANT to believe I've at least improved by one stone.
It's time again to renew resolutions, but first I'd like to look at a
few stats on KGS (courtesy of http://kgs.gosquares.net).
o played 405 games
o 45-28 win/loss in ranked games <.<
o reached 3k more than a couple of times
Somebody could take exception on my rank though. I lost to a 11k last
night. In an even game! A kibitzer felt so strongly about the game
that he even left a message for me saying how I suck.
Kids.
It's been a struggle. There were no giant strides. There were losing
streaks. But there were also sweet victories and subtle plays.
The possiblities in this game is still fascinating. I'm beginning to
appreciate the solid, peaceful kind of play like the style of Lee
Changho.
This fool can't have enough of this game just yet.
Kaya new year resolution uli! 1 kyu by the end of year 2010. Thanks go
to Richard Wiseman for his tips on keeping resolutions

november... pero no match pa rin kay che...
kaso magtu2 months na kong hindi naglalaro...
ubos na kasi ang beginner's luck ko kaya di na ko nagiimprove...

kila benj, mikong, at che...
hahaha
bahala na...
PS: @mikong - nasa kin yung libro mo at yung stone and board set...
soli ko na sya sa next meeting... sobrang pasensya kung natagalan...
T____T
Started out as a 6k this year, and now a weak 3k.
But I think it helped that my goal was outrageous. So here's another
crazy goal for 2010: 3-dan. I also think it helps to believe you are
really capable of reaching such lofty goals. For me, it helps keep the
pressure up, and forces me to be creative in my studying. Like what my
Physics teacher said, "Aim for the moon, and you might hit the flag
pole. Aim for the flag pole and you might end up hitting the
pavement." The famous quote is quite different from that, I guess he
modified it.
What I find surprising in studying Go is that I know about the things
I still need to study further. And while studying, I learn so much,
and yet when I play, I don't feel stronger. For the last 5 months,
I've been stuck. Despite new tesujis, josekis, end game tricks,
efficient shape moves, etc. Right now, I'm studying tsumego to improve
my reading (I noticed that I'm worse at tsumego now). And I'm
reviewing all the things I've learned before (coz I noticed I've
forgotten a lot of them).
@erick: I need the board set for the national championship. You don't
have to bring it in the next meeting, and it'll be better actually if
you bring it on the national championship. Coz I might also bring
another set on the event.
P.S. I can lend my copy of it, if you guys are interested.
