hey spring, here's another erratic that plopped out of the blue - two
touring crews (Texas & Maine), converging on our pile of rock & bricks
by the river:

Ms. SANDY+ Ms. YET
UKE OF SPACES
SPIDERWEBS
MONA NASH
BEN HERSEY + DB RUSSELL
FLAMING DRAGONS OF MIDDLE EARTH

SAT APRIL 23.
7pm sharp. $8. all ages.

The Brick House
24 3rd st
Turners Falls, MA

as this show is a glorious smorgasbord of sound & entertainments
featuring many acts who've travelled great distances, please note 7pm
start time & slightly higher-but-still-a-bargain admission price of 8
bucks...

so, what do we have here?

In one car, coming all the way from Houston, Texas, two acts, both
featuring the charming and disarming mulitsquiggled prepared guitar
fracturings of Weird Weeds member Sandy Ewen. First off will be
SPIDERWEBS, her duo with fabulous nu-weird-'merican guitar shaman
Charlambadiesman, Tom Carter. Then, gently shifting gears, Ewen will
be joined by spry dancer Yet Torres doing an unimaginably original
schtick as Ms. SANDY & Ms. YET: experimental belly-dance-based
movement to mellifluous nonmusical guitar fondling.

In the other car, coming from Belfast, Maine, are UKE OF SPACES & MONA
NASH. It's been almost 4 or so years, since the UKE crew played one
of the first shows I've ever put on in Turners Falls - and at The
Brick House, no less. Up in Maine, they run Trd World, a killer label
cranking out tapes/records of gorgeous murkiness. As a performing
unit, Dan, Amy & Co. harmonize & raise hell. Their sweet,
close-to-the-earth tunes & soundscapes blend a cozy tunefulness with
otherworldly sounds amplifying the benefits of vibrating microbes in
all of us. As they're touring with their precious little one, they
may be performing on the early side of the lineup, so those of you
"who know" & "need to catch them" better show up on time, dig me?
Their buddy, MONA is along for the ride & will share a
kiddie-sized-pool of her echo-drenched psychedelic ear jelly. Check
em out here (at the very bottom is a tidbit of their last show here in
town a few yrs back):

lastly, arriving in a clown car, from localsville, wmass, are two
short performances by BEN HERSEY + DB RUSSELL & The Brick House
resident house band FLAMING DRAGONS OF MIDDLE EARTH.

HERSY+RUSSELL are upstanding gentlemen who are good at sweating. Like
the Biz, they make the music with their mouths. Props & physical
comedy are possible. As D. once said, they "can make seconds feel
like hours." 15 minutes with either of these gentlemen is always a
rewarding experience in time-stretching absurdity, so imagine the
trophy that will appear when the two collaborate.

Every Thursday afternoon, during Teen Center hours at The Brick House,
FLAMING DRAGONS OF MIDDLE EARTH, holds Mud Lightning Metal rituals,
grinding out sick riffs & pseudosatanic lyricism. They have a bazillion
releases, both official & not on cdr, tape, etc, but just this past
year, their first chunk o' wax, "Seed of Contempt" LP for the
venerable Feeding Tube label freaked out freaks all over the world. I
am very pleased to have these citizens of doom back there on a
Saturday to tear open the festivities in their natural habitat and
blow minds.
