Dear Members,
Two weeks ago I informed you of the passing of
William Bryan Jackson (Thornley, 1942-1947), but I didn't have
many details. His date of passing was 1st March 2012, and the Funeral
Service was held in his hometown of St Etienne de Gourgas on 6th
March.
Bryan was a larger-than-life character who had
previously been the Chairman of Guildhall St Conservative Club, as well as
Chairman of Fulwood Amateurs FC, where he had a lifelong friendship with Mick
Waller. Mike Kirby remembers the tough scraps he had with Bryan on
the football pitch (PGSOB v Fulwood Amateurs was always like that!), and the
laughs he had with him off it. Mick Waller tells me that he and Bryan
had intended to be at the Annual Dinner again this year, but sadly it
wasn't to be.
Bryan will be sorely missed by his friends in
the Association, and the Association would in turn like to extend its best
wishes to his family and other friends.
Charlie Billington.
