Our client, a small highly energized organization located in The Twin Cities,  
has requested our recruitment services to identify and pre-screen qualified  
candidates for a senior level opportunity within their organization.

The position of Vice President, Hardware-Software Systems Development will  
be located in the Twin Cities, one of the more enjoyable places to live for those  
interested in the outdoors, high-quality education, diverse cultural activities  
and overall high quality of life and are the result of aggressive growth and  
wide-spread industry acceptance of our client's products.

DESCRIPTION:

This person will lead the development of all system level hardware for our  
client's new generation of Pentium Pro based servers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for directing hardware design  
and technology selection for scaleable IP servers that support clustered  
operating systems.

The primary responsibility will include organization, product schedule and  
delivery, budget, and management of all sub-teams working on motherboard  
design, I/0, memory subsystems, and network subsystems.

We are particularly interested in reviewing the resumes of candidates  
possessing symmetric Multiprocessor (SMP) experience and who have  
worked with distributed shared resources, such as disk subsystems.

Position provides the right candidate with an opportunity to lead and direct the  
vision for a new product family.

This person will lead the development of all system software efforts for a new  
clustered server product.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leadership, organization,  
budget, and management of all software related activities which will include  
standard hardware abstraction layers (HALs) for Windows NT, Netware and  
SunSoft Solaris operating systems; extensions to support all aspects of high  
availability and fault tolerance; integration of in house and third party security  
features; support for NUMA shared memory and SMP clustered architectures;  
and support requirements for WebServer, Database, and GroupWare ISV  
products.

EXPERIENCE:

Qualified candidates will possess:

Proven experience in managing and leading complex computer system  
product development in a small entrepreneurial environment. This experience  
will included the extensive use of hardware design rules, process and  
fabrication vendor interaction.

Experience in development of high performance IP systems a strong plus.

Strong understanding of multiprocessor systems hardware and system  
performance.

This position requires proven experience in managing and leading complex  
system software product development within a small entrepreneurial  
environment.

Specific experience required includes; demonstrated delivery of products to  
market and the deployment and management of software development quality  
process and methodology.

Candidates with Windows NT and UNIX development experience preferred.

Candidates must have a strong understanding systems software and  
performance as well as 10-15 years computer industry experience.

BS, MS-CS/EE.

A flexible starting salary, (commensurate with skills and experience).
