Guatemala earthquake person finder request - 11/8/2012

Hi Folks,

Noel Dickover forwarded to us some information that there is a
potential need for a person finder application for the Guatemala
earthquake, apparently 150 people are missing at this time.

Kara Andrade is the point-of-contact for this request (cc-ed here)
(skype: "newmaya", also "CC Guatemala" skype chat coordination). I
know it is pretty easy to set one up but perhaps someone in this
community could reach out directly to Kara to assist her and provide
some general support. CrisisCamp Argentina is also engaged (skype:
enheas2010).

Luis,

The Google Crisis Response team tries to evaluate the situation for each event and decides to launch Google Person Finder based on perceived need and ability to add value.  We open sourced the code behind Person Finder and provided instructions so that anyone can launch their own instance of Person Finder without having to seek permission from Google.  In general we engage directly for very large international events where having our additional scale resources is an important factor.

About Deborah's question I would like to have more information on the activation protocols for Google personfinder deployments (for example to know how can it be activated and who is the person that must be contacted). I guess that somewhere it must be published  but I can't find here,  neither in Google Crisisresponse webpage.
