The perl foundation was able to provide some grants towards work on this project and perl6. However, fund raising wasn't sufficient to keep grants going full time.

However, if people not yet involved feel they want to offer to contribute something to the project, time (working on things that need doing) is more valuable than money, in my opinion. (Both are nice, but if it's one or the other, directed time will get things further). My opinion is my opinion - I'm not anything official on the parrot project, nor am I anything in the perl foundation.

Not for pay, no. I'm not sure anyone works on it full-time, though I may come closest.

Nope.

I delude myself into thinking I'm more or less in charge. At the moment Steve Fink has the release manager pumpkin. Jeff Goff and Simon Cozens are pumpking emeritii. Other than that it's pretty loose, with folks mostly deferring to whoever's done the core work on whatever piece of the infrastructure you're looking at.

They did stuff that didn't suck. It's pretty much a meritocracy.

None, really, other than defining the language features that we need to make sure work well. -- Dan

About two months ago, I asked the perl foundation about the grants, and Kurt DeMaagd replied:
__BEGIN_ANSWER__ Dan and Damian discontinued their grants, but Larry is still on board. Larry's grant lasts until the end of the year. We will be doing more grants, though the exact structure is still to be determined. We may continue to do large grants like we have in the past. We could choose to do a greater number of smaller grants. We may end up doing some sort of combination of the two ideas. In general, TPF is in a lot better financial shape than the rumor mill holds. We post an update about a month ago (I think on use.perl), with an update. But of course communications like that don't seem to spread as well as rumors. Kurt __END_ANSWER__

So am I. I'll go nudge. -- Dan
