This is a success report for perl from doug...@lafayette.edu,

Isn't this a bad idea? Mixing 5.8 and 5.10 at least? I seem to recall
they're not binary-compatible if there are any XS-based modules in the 5.8
directories not also installed in a newer directory. I'm not sure if there
have been any other changes to binary compatibility since then.

Major versions of Perl are in general not binary compatible. That's not
a problem with the @INC shown, however, because there are separate
directories for the XS modules (they're the ones with the machine
architecture in the name), and that @INC only includes XS directories
for 5.16.

No, it's just sharing the non-XS based extensions, so it's fine . See the
section
