You can adjust these with a player that isn't QTX - for instance cmd-J
in QT 7 Pro.
I really don't think it's appropriate to choose things like that in
the decoder, though getting that subtitles menu to work would be nice.

What are those files named? I thought I'd fixed those in 1.1.4, though
I didn't go looking for samples very hard.
