Hi doug,

It appears to be a DBD::mysql issue in old Ubuntu distributions. In
Ubuntu 10.04 DBD::mysql is linked against libmysqlclient16, i.e. the 5.1
client library. However, utf8mb4 is only supported in 5.5, which means
any DBD::MySQL utility on Ubuntu 10.04 is unable to connect to 5.5

There's been a couple of interesting things here:
1) We had a bug late in the cycle with testing against current PXC which
went unnoticed, which is how bug #1180672 sneaked in. We've fixed
this problem and we're trying to come up with better was (both human
and machine) to ensure this doesn't happen again.

It's pretty hard to un-intentionally get an old release - the download
page will have giant warnings about downloading something that isn't the
latest. Many releases have bugs that are critical/high priority for some
segment of people so I personally prefer to keep things up, at least for
completeness than to remove them (as otherwise there's an argument to

 Hi,
I'm setting up a new XtraDB cluster and I'm running into an issue with
xtrabackup based SST. I'm receiving an error that the utf8mb4 character set
that we need is not valid. I'm able to log into the MySQL console and set
this character set using "SET NAMES utf8mb4" so I know it's valid. Also, I

This morning i received an email from our cloud providers that they would
be resetting the network to all our servers and since we have some servers
running xtradb cluster, i have a few questions for this group
1. what will happen if all the nodes loose network connectivity for
(minimum 20secs, max 10 mins)?

 Hi,
It is not clear when following code of __get_boundaries will be true :
if ( $self->{cached_row} && $self->{cached_nibble} == $self->{nibble} ) {
If syncer object holds this condition, prior condition if ( $self->{cached_boundaries} )
must also hold true. cached_boundaries is cleared when nibble advances.

Totally agree on Sanket's opinion and moreover I think that :
non-regression tests and release cycle should be IMO strongly reviewed on
Percona's side to avoid such problems and above all to show a better
outside image of the company ...
This is only from my point of view but with all the problems we know from

 Hi Sanket,

Yes I can also confirm there is a big problem with Percona Xtrabackup
2.1.2, I was in the process of testing the new release this morning on a
test cluster but failed everything when testing it because of this SST hang
and finally saw the problem by coming to the group here, so as the bug has

 Hi,

Yes, it has been confirmed now and the bug has been identified.
So, before upgrade from 2.0.x wait for XB 2.1.3 (which may be
released soon because of this critical bug), or if already on XB 2.1.2, downgrade (till
XB 2.1.3 is released).

Regards,
--
Raghavendra Prabhu
Percona LLC. - [link] / Blog: [link]
