You're better off installing from the Percona APT repository, so you can easily get package upgrades and pull in dependencies. The instructions to do this are on the Percona site, here:

Well, this has added the package repos to APT, now you need to install a package. Something like "apt-get install percona-server-server-51" should get you going.
