Hello,

I live in Canada and have been enjoying painting since childhood. I've been
painting oil on canvas most of my life but since I've discovered decorative
painting using acrylics (about 7 years ago), I got hook. It's a passion
that just turn out into a small business. But really it ain't "work" when
one enjoy itself so much.

2years ago, I've start teaching classes. This is a new adventure, but so
much fun and ideas (especially with Christmas time coming around the corner)
are bouncing around in my head...I put them down on paper...but where is
that damn piece of paper! ;) Start another one, and here it flies again.
ARGH!

But seriously, I'm more organise than that...

Have anyone started their Christmas production. Please say yes... don't let
me believe that I'm just this crazy woman listening to Christmas CD's in the
middle of June so inspiration won't let me...

Hi Magou, I was excited to see you started this group. I hope others
will join soon. I have been
painting for about 14 years. I have always done craft shows and sold my
items. In fact, I sold the first thing I ever painted at a craft show.
I was hooked. Since I do craft shows and have a booth at a craft mall,
I have always had to look for fast, easy and inexpensive items that will
produce and sell quickly. I wish I had more time to develop my work. I
haven't had a painting lesson in years and really miss not having a
class to go to. I live in Kansas and right now the town I live in has
no place that offers tole painting classes. I recently starting using
PermEnamel paint which has opened up alot of possibilities since you can
paint on glass and metal.
I will be anxiously checking back over the next few days and see how
this group developes.
Thank you

Always looking for fast and inexpensive items to paint on. They're usually
good for sale at crafts shows but for me it always seem I get to much
involved in a design let's less primitive looking. People enjoys them
..sale aren't as easy. I've found out that making useful objects, like
jewellery boxes or small cabinets will drive people running in my booth.

There weren't a lot of decorative painters in my area when I started out,
but now I have to look more closely at my competitors. So I keep on doing
my show stoppers and digging for ideas for fast and easy sale items.
Christmas coming I thought about Christmas ornaments made from 1/8" plywood
like birdhouses shape.

Competitors around here just repeat patterns we can found in magazine like
woodstroke or decorative woodcrafts. Is it the same in your part of the
world? Were do you guys get inspirations for your painting projects?

Hope to here from you,

Magou :-)

I am glad this group is started!!! I live in Phoenix (Scottsdale) AZ and am
enjoying the "warm" weather of 106 plus! I have two wonderful kids who keep
me busy. I have painted for several, several years and enjoy acrylics now
too!

It's time for me to start painting again for fall craft shows. Ornaments,
etc., to large yard art. It keeps me busy!

I am enjoying seeing posts about Tole! Thanks to those who started the
group.

Jeez...it's kind of HOT at your place! I'm wondering if you're still able
to paint. Around here, humidity doesn't work well with acrylics. Have to
wait until the sun comes down...but then have to wake up early for the
kids....

I'm glad to see you join us and just hope to see this newsgroups blooming.

Hi everyone, Let me start by saying, I hate to type, but when I found out
this tole painting news group started I had to jump right over here. I am a
"decorative" painter, getting closer to being a tole painter. I enjoy it
very much. It is the first craft that I haven't given up on. My favorite
artist is Betty Caithess. I love her stuff and I am currently working on her
four seasons lamp. I am a member of the Decorative Art Society, for almost a
year now. I plan on attending the trade show in RI this year in Oct. If any
of you are going let me know. I live in upstate NY. I have one child (boy,
11). I got remarried in Feb. to a wonderful partner. Just bought a new home
(with a paint studio Ü ). Life is grand! So now for some questions. What do
we want to share in this news group? Do we want it to include binaries of
things we did? Patterns? (Did I say that? hehe). Do we want to share tips on
where to get supplies? I have several web pages I have collected. It is very
nice meeting all of you. Oh last but not least, the very most important
thing about myself is I am a Christian, because:

With God all things are possible!

I am always able to paint....thank goodness for air conditioners! They say
it is going to be getting hotter! Oh well, we have sun here most of the
year!

What projects is everyone working on? I gearing up for fall shows!
