Harry Thomson Jones (aka Tom Jones, the racehorse trainer), who was
born at Amesbury, Wilts, 28 Apr 1925, died 5 December, 2007. He was
82. He was educated at Eton and served in the army before becoming a
champion trainer in National Hunt and on th flat. He married 1stly,
Solna Joel, dau of Stanhope Henry Joel (b 1903, d 1983), the
racehorse
owner/breeder, by his wife the former Gladys MacFadden; his 1st wife
was a granddaughter of Solomon Barnato Joel (23 May 1865-22 May
1931),
the mining, brewing and railway magnate; he married 2ndly, Sarah
Chester Beatty, dau of Alfred Chester Beatty (d 1983), of Owley,
Wittersham, Kent, and former wife of David Robin Francis Guy
Greville,
Lord Brooke, (afterwards the 8th Earl of Warwick), and mother of the
9th Earl and Lady Charlotte Greville. He leaves two sons (inc the
trainer Tim Thomson Jones) and a dau, Di Haine, fom his 1st marriage.
