Regular posters will recall we discussed this earldom in a string headed peerage deaths in 2011. The link is below but I've started a new post for this for obvious reasons.

I've now checked with the Editor of Debrett and he tells me that he's had confirmation that the Hon Donald (Don) William PERCEVAL (b 1954) and his sister are adopted and that consequently the Irish earldom created in 1733 became extinct on the death of the 12th Earl in 2011.

Regular posters might be interested as to how I found out that this Earldom had become extinct.

As a junior member of the Perceval family, descended from a younger brother of the first perceval baronet I was told by my son in march 2012 that I was to expect the birth of a male Perceval grandson in April this year and that he was likely to be named Fred or Frederick.
I duly pressed or rather goggled Fred ,Freddie and Frederick and came up with the death of the last earl,Freddie and his wife Connie,as well as discovering that his sister Geraldine had died earlier in 2011.

Thanks for explaining how that came about. It's always interesting to hear of the different ways in which news of this kind filters through and shows how good it is to have posters scattered over the globe!
