Marking the International Day of Non-Violence, the United Nations has
released a stamp of Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of his 140th birth
anniversary. The United Nations Postal Administration, the world
body's postal agency, released the one-dollar stamp designed by a
world famous Miami-based artist Ferdie Pacheco, with the Father of the
Nation in red, blue and gold. Also the envelopes marked with the stamp
and the United Nations' seal were on sale…

about 1,460 students of N.S.S. Unit, from 76 colleges of University of
Mumbai joined hands with the millions of people all over the world and
took the PLEDGE on 2nd October - International Non-Violence Day…
Students carrying play-cards and banners depicting slogans like ‘No
More Violence, Peace is our Mission’ marched from Churchgate & CST
stations and gathered at the Convocation Hall, University of Mumbai,
Fort Campus…

*Gandhi’s Autobiography Reforming Jail inmates at Chandigarh

Chandigarh, October 2: The impact of Mahatama Gandhi’s philosophy came
to the fore in a most unexpected place-the Model Jail, Burail, when
last year around 200 inmates came forward to take part in an
innovative Gandhi Peace Exam. Today, international day of nonviolence
and Gandhi Jayanti marked a new beginning for fifty inmates who got
themselves enrolled for the new batch which started today…
Motivational to the core, the programme christened as ‘Gandhi Peace
Exam’ unique by all standards is designed by Yuvsatta (an NGO) in
collaboration with Chandigarh Prisons Department and Bombay Sarvodaya
Mandal, which is also instrumental in spreading this programme in
almost all Jails of Maharashtra…

DHAKA: Militant activities in the country have collapsed because of
successive arrests of suspected Indian militants, Detective Branch of
Police have claimed. With Wednesday's arrest of 28-year-old Emdadullah
alias Mahbub, a suspected member of the Pakistan-based Islamist
terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba, detectives claimed that the
group's network has been broken down…
