LUCKNOW:…Kalbe Sadiq, a noted Shia cleric and senior vice-president of
the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), will take the “holy
dip” at the upcoming Kumbh Mela in 2010. “For the sake of cementing
the bond between Hindus and Muslims, I have decided to perform the
ritual (holy dip) in the Ganga, which is considered sacred and
revered, particularly by Hindus,” the Shia cleric told IANS. “In fact,
not only the holy dip, I am ready to perform every such act that will
help promote amicable atmosphere between the two communities and
contribute towards the progress of the nation,” he added…

A fire ritual was performed by a batch of 40 Kashmiri Pandits at the
Sun Temple in Ranbirsinghpora in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district
for the first time in 700 years on Friday…"We have performed this
ritual as it will help in reemergence of Kashmiri culture and promote
brotherhood. We want to give a message that if there is secularism

NEW DELHI, Oct. 4 (APP)…Hindustan Times reported that the GEAC working
under the environment and Forest Ministry, gave permission to top GM
seed companies like Monsanto, Hyderabad-based Bayer Hybrid Seeds and
Aurangabad-based Nath Biogene in September to export GM hybrid seeds
to Pakistan for trials. Indias Bt Cotton seeds have helped the country
double its cotton production in seven years…. Our bonhomie with our
neighbours (Pakistan) on environment issues from climate change to GM
is good, said Indian environment Minister Jairam Ramesh.

DHAKA: Bangladesh and India will open 13th land port at Belonia Sunday
to expedite export and import business with the landlocked eastern
Indian states known as Seven Sisters. Shipping minister Shahjahan Khan
will inaugurate the new land port that is about 170 kilometres away
from Dhaka and a strategically important place in Tripura, one of the
