Mike Perham (dalli/girl_friday/em-resolv-replace/ect) recently moved to Portland and has offered to give a (short, probably) introduction to Sidekiq tonight: http://mperham.github.com/sidekiq

It uses threads (on top of Tony Arcieri's Celluloid, which is an Actor pattern implementation for Ruby) to provide concurrency instead of forking worker processes, which enables more throughput per-process.

It will be an interesting night. Cheers!

I'd love if this talk were recorded and posted online.

I'm not sure if it's going to be a talk or just an introduction. I think Sidekiq was only recently released.

I can try to record it with my phone. No guarantee it'll be of any quality, but I'll give it a whirl.

I was just roped into this this morning, so I won't have much
prepared. My guess is that it'll be a 5 minute demo and 10 minute
chat about message processing in general but I'm happy to talk as long
as people have questions.

Ha, welcome to your first Portland Ruby Brigade meeting!
Thanks in advance.
