As someone who began recruiting for social games, I've noticed that
many ruby on rails developers love games but gravitate towards web
development. Very few people realize that social games can be seen as
an expansion of the web 2.0 sensation. Many studios are accepting RoR
developers WITHOUT game experience. Developers I spoke with are often
looking to test their programming abilities as well as apply their RoR
backgrounds into new endeavors. So my question to you regarding game
development is simply, "why not?"

I am currently looking for onsite RoR developers to work in San
Francisco. Yes, I know it's not Arizona, but that is unfortunately
where the job is. Relocation will be covered as will H-1B sponsorship
for absolutely top notch programmers. Salary is open (and
competitive) with generous equity and benefits due to the fact that
this is a B-stage startup.

Ideally, I'd like candidates with...
- 2+ years of RoR with experience in consumer-based web apps
- 2 years with AJAX, JS, CSS, and DHTML
- Superlative experience in agile development/rapid prototyping
- Passion for games

Huge pluses if you have …
- Social networking application development (Facebook, Myspace, Bebo,
etc.)
- Game development experience
- Metrics/data warehousing/analytics experience with RoR
- Payment system/e-commerce experience
- Computer Science degree or similar technical background

Please only post Ruby-related job ads that people within 100 miles of
Portland could work at because the workplace is either nearby or allows
telecommuting. Thanks.

PS: I would have rejected this post and had this discussion with the
poster off-list if someone hadn't already approved the initial post.
