Antique Oil Painting and the Chicago World's Fair

I am posting this inquiry to help a friend who has an oil painting
which has been in his family for many years. It came from a family
home in Buffalo. We cannot see the artist's name on the painting (it
may be hidden by the frame and we do not want to ruin the original
backing.) This oil painting is approximately 3' x 2' and features an
older lady who is crossing a bridge. It is a Winter scene. It states
in handwriting on the back that the artist's name is Mrs. Swift. and
that the painting won first prize at the Chicago World Fair (I assume
that to be 1893). We are wondering if any catalogue of exhibitors was
published for the fair. Should you have any information that may shed
