Open a terminal and run the command df to see how much space is being used by the / filesystem. Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda1 12G 10G 1.3G 89% / Synaptic cache will fill this filesystem up if it is never cleared (/var/cache/apt/archives/). Open synaptic and go to Settings --> Preferences. Under the Files tab click on "Delete Cached Package Files". That should free up disk space and get rid of the package needs xxxKB on the / filesystem messages. Please post any further questions to the pclinuxos forums. While preparing for installation:

installing package libkexiv2-4.8.3-2pclos2012.i586 needs 644KB on the / filesystem
installing package kipi-plugins-1.9.0-2pclos2012.i586 needs 116KB on the / filesystem
installing package ktorrent-4.2.0-2pclos2012.i586 needs 2MB on the / filesystem

I know I have the space on my disk, or rather I think I do.

Thanks in advance,

Eric

Eric - You should be posting support questions on pclinuxos forum http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/

Sounds like your root filesystem is almost full. Open a terminal and run the command df to see how much space is being used by the / filesystem.

Filesystem            Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1              12G   10G  1.3G  89% /

Synaptic cache will fill this filesystem up if it is never cleared (/var/cache/apt/archives/). Open synaptic and go to Settings --> Preferences. Under the Files tab click on "Delete Cached Package Files".  That should free up disk space and get rid of the package needs xxxKB on the / filesystem messages.

Please post any further questions to the pclinuxos forums.

Thanks,

-- Andy
