Thanks for the input. I did all in first paragraph, but without any
luck. Later, as I was looking at all the failed fetches, it dawned on me that the lomanager was failing to fetch several pkglists. So, I went into synaptic and disabled all the repositories. Ran lomanager again, and it worked perfectly. Must be a line in the code somewhere that fails or stops the operation when it fails to download a pkglist before the actual install works. Anyway, after it successfully installed and I confirmed that it functioned properly, I went back and enabled the repositories again. OK...that's not really a fix. But it is a workable workaround. Maybe the code should warn you if you have failed pkglist downloads,
