Hello to all of you!

We hope you are all enjoying spring as much as we are. It is so
relaxing to sit on the porch swing and absorb all the beauty that God
has prepared for us: birds chirping, trees blossoming, flowers
budding, etc. As spring warms up, the farm activity increases. We have
the oats and spring wheat planted. The corn and soybeans will be
planted in about two weeks. The spelt, winter wheat, and rye that were
planted last fall are looking great. The alfalfa fields are looking
like they will be ready to mow before too many more weeks. The garden
is slow with the cooler weather we had the last couple weeks. However,
we cut our first asparagus on Saturday.

The beef cattle are looking good with the mamas putting on a lot of
weight with their calves due in another month or so. The goats all
kidded about a month ago, so the barnyard is fun to visit with all of
them jumping and leaping around. Our brooder house is busy with 220
broilers being fed for market. They will probably be ready for sale in
about 2 months. If you want to make sure we save some for you, put
your order in as soon as possible so we can save them for you. The
hens we raised last summer are laying now, so there are plenty of eggs
to sell. It keeps everyone busy feeding the livestock and tending the
fields.

We will start attending the Des Moines Downtown Farmer's Market May
14th. We are scheduled to be there the second Saturday of every month
through September. So, if you are in the area on those days and want
to pick up an order, check out what we have for sale, or just say
"hello" make sure to do so.

Enjoy spring while it is here!
