1.I learned so much this semester if I gave a detailed account it
would last a semester. Most of the design principles I remembered
some
what from interior design thought there were quite a few that had a
different slant because of the differences in majors but the coolest
thing was getting elbows deep with the programs. I tried to pickup
stuff along the way but it was very frustrating but now I feel I have
a solid start and I know where the best places to go for info if I
get
stuck in the future.
2. Actually the exercises and the sketch book helped me the best.
Actually having to put specific principles into play. You can think
you know them untill you actually have to be specific. I had got out
of practice using an actual sketch book. I forgot how useful that was
having to document week by week was very helpful when trying to bring
the projects together.
3.I dont know that there where any that were not useful. I think the
one on balance was furstrating but for me all the exercises gave
reinforcement to using the software which is what I really needed so
for that alone I dont think that any of the exercises were unuseful
or
less useful.
4.In general I like the ones where I had to use photoshop the most
because that seemed to be the program that I used least this semester
and wanted to learn more about.
5. I would say that the assignments that entailed me going to other
websites (galleries, articles, etc.) were my least favorite because
of
time factors getting all of my classes' homework done but I learned
alot at those sites and the provided me with the knowledge of a home
to goto when I have questions or get stuck working on future
endevors.
Honestly the course is rather lean and straight to the point. I dont
think any of it should really be discarded. The only thing I might
suggest is maybe a prerequisite of some software knowledge or
something because that is the only thing that I felt uncomfortable
with this semester.

1. I have learned so much about all of the Adobe programs this
semester. There are so many tools to use that I never would have
figured them out on my own. I also learned a lot about design
principles. Art is not one of my strongest areas, but I wanted to
learn about what makes a successful image. Being an advertising
major, I figured it would be helpful to learn some of the basic about
Adobe and how to create appealing designs.
2. I really enjoyed the first three exercises about emphasis, unity,
and balance because we got to come up with so many options.
3. I felt like all the assignments were useful because I learned
something new everytime.
4. My favorite assignment was the book cover because it gave me a
chance to be creative and I got to use all the Adobe tools that we
learned about.
5. My least favorite project was the unity tiles. I did not like
drawing out the pattern and then tracing it. It was actually a little
bit frustrating!
I really liked this course because it is straight to the point. The
deadlines are very clear and if you work hard and make good use of
your class time, then you don't have homework :)

I definitely learned more about all the Adobe programs. Previously,
I'd only used Photoshop so it was great to learn about all the others
and discover which would be the most useful for a certain task. I also
learned the design principles, before I never gave a lot of technical
thought to my designs, I just judged them on how I thought they
looked. So, it was helpful to know some basic guidelines.
> 2. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were most useful?
The first three were definitely a helpful way to start out the
semester. Just having that foundation helped a lot later on. I like
learning more about Dreamweaver as well, I want to learn more about
coding and website design so it was nice to get a taste of that.
> 3. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were the least useful?
I think they were all helpful in someway so I wouldn't call any
useless. However, I think rhythm gave me the hardest time just trying
to figure out how to express the fell of the music into a nice
composition.
> 4. What project or assignment was your favorite? Why?
The book cover was definitely my favorite. I had the most fun with
creating a design and executing it. I did all of it in Photoshop which
is where I'm most comfortable and I got to use some of my outside
knowledge of the program while doing it. So, that was a lot of fun. I
liked the sketchbook blog, just because I had fun making layouts for
mine haha. It was a neat idea too, I'll probably keep mine up as long
as I have time and remember to update it.
> 5. What project or assignment was your least favorite? Why?
The tiles were definitely frustrating! I'm still not completely
comfortable with making curves with the pen tool in Illustrator, so I
wasn't very happy with the outcome.
> 1. I have learned alot about photoshop, illustarator, indesign and the rest of em. But I also learned about composition, color, balance and what not. most classes I have taken here at p-land haven't taught me anything, I belive this is the fist class at parkland I have benifited from.

> 5. Like I said before the book assignments were boring, although they did get the message across they were still silly.
1. I have learned more about color, more about the basic principles of
graphic design. I have also learned how to look at things in a new
light, one that I might not of thought of before.
2. I think that all of the assignments and exercises were useful in
their
own way. I don think that the blog and the sketchbook were a bit
repetitive though. The sketchbook was supposed to be a "visual diary",
then we were also supposed to maintain a blog, isn't this, in essence
the same thing? Maybe it's just me.
3. Like I stated before, I think that all were useful in one way or
another.
4. I don't think I had a "favorite" per say.
5. I didn't really have a favorite, let alone a least favorite.

I have learned quite alot this semester. By doing assignments I
learned how useful the web can be and
how many resources there are to help me and others out. And there are
so many ways to communicate
between groups and share opinions, and ideas. My projects...wow...Ive
learned alot. I've learned that it
can be frustrating sometimes because maybe you dont know how to use
the programs all that well, but
if you stick with it you'll be okay. I've learned to pay special
attention to little details, as well as review my
work several times before i say "Complete". I've also learned to pay
attention to all the design principles we've
learned and make sure my work applies to them. Most of all I've
learned The "what would Paul say theory".
This is an awesome theory! After you do your work or an excersise you
sit back and say, "What would Paul say?"
Just by doing this you can correct alot of little mistakes you may
have made, and get things a little more crisp
and clean before review. :)
> 2. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were most useful?
I thought they were all great as far as learning is concerned. They
help you learn the principles, as well as go one
step further in learning the program features and capabilities. They
were all VERY useful, maybe not always enjoyable
but very great on learning aspects.
> 3. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were the least useful?
Some of the online stuff in angel i felt was somewhat pointless, but
it was mostly okay.
> 4. What project or assignment was your favorite? Why?
I really enjoyed the bookcover excersise as well as the color and
music excersises. They all give you a chance to be
a little more creative, and the book cover is great because its
simple, but yet you need to know what you're doing. I really
enjoyed all the excersises too. All great practice with programs as
well as making use of design principles.
> 5. What project or assignment was your least favorite? Why?
I didnt enjoy the asymmetrical balance excersise because we were only
allowed to use the little squares. So we couldnt put
any curves in it and it was a little tougher to create images. I
think in future classes it should be in illustrator with free reign
like most of the other excersises. Other than that great class!!
1. What you have learned doing your projects and assignments?
I learned a lot about design. I had a basic grasp on some of it but it
was great to hear it all and learn about it in depth. Also the
different programs we used.
2. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were most useful?
I thought the first few projects were really useful. Also, those that
were in Illustrator and Dreamweaver. I needed some more experience in
those programs.
3. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were the least useful?
I thought it was all pretty useful. The Miko ad using InDesign was a
lot of stuff I knew but its always good to practice.
4. What project or assignment was your favorite? Why?
I really enjoyed both of the projects. I like being able to see how
all of the things we learned went into other things than the
exercises. And, I was able to use text. I really like fonts.
5. What project or assignment was your least favorite? Why?
I really disliked the rhythm assignment. For some reason I just could
not get it. I couldn't get what was in my head on the computer.
1. What you have learned doing your projects and assignments?
i learned that there is a lot more to graphic design than just a
pretty picture or some text, its more technical, and principle based
that i originally thought. i also enjoyed learning about the programs
utilized in the class, and which application is best suited to get "x"
desired results.
2. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were most useful?
i as many of my classmates would probably say, thought the first three
assignments were the most useful, along with the winona book cover
exercise and the dreamweaver webpage application.
3. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were the least useful?
N/A
4. What project or assignment was your favorite? Why?
I loved both projects because it allowed us to be totally creative.
5. What project or assignment was your least favorite? Why?
i didnt care for the balance assignment much, i thought that the way
it came out was clumsy/ugly, i would rather have stay using
illustrator then photoshop for that particular assignment.
1. What you have learned doing your projects and assignments?
I learned so much during this semester, I think the design principles
is super useful for me. I also learned how to create a art work by
using different kinds of material.
2. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were most useful?
Its a tough decision...I would say evey project and assignment is very
very useful but i like the winona a lot.
3. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were the least useful?
Just like I said, every assignment is very useful...
4. What project or assignment was your favorite? Why?
I think the book cover project is my favorite, cuz I feel I am really
creating something by myself, not just change a color or shape.
5. What project or assignment was your least favorite? Why?
I would say the "color balance." Actually I do not know why I dont
like it but it just came out of my mind.
I agree that the first three exercises were really helpful in terms of
laying the foundation for the rest of the course. They really helped
me get an idea about what the course was all about.

That's interesting that you didn't like the color balance assignment.
I actually thought we did way too many things with color so I can see
where you would get a little frustrated with it.

I also learned how to pay special attention to all the small details.
I never realized how important the little things are in graphic
design, so it was interesting to learn about how to improve.

1. What you have learned doing your projects and assignments?
I learned a lot from 2 projects. I could apply the elements and
principles of design like unity to projects.
2. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were most useful?
Making better newspaper ads and book covers.
3. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were the least useful?
There were not unuseful projects and assignments. All projects and
assignments need to me at least.
4. What project or assignment was your favorite? Why?
Book covers. It was fun, because I could design myself from beginning
to end.
5. What project or assignment was your least favorite? Why?
Balance. It was hard to express balance with only some pixels.
