I have started to learn how to use Photoshop, Illustrator and
InDesign.

Laying out the brochure and InDesign in general because it is probably
going to be of the most use to me.

> 3. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were the least useful?
Possibly the Cd.

> 4. What project or assignment was your favorite? Why?

I liked doing the blog- if that counts. I found it interesting to see
other people's point of view on art etc.

QUIZ'S, they speak for them self.

1. What you have learned doing your projects and assignments?
I learned a lot more about each Adobe Suite.  At the beginning of the
semester, I knew the Adobe Suite pretty well.  This semester, I feel
like I learned a lot more of the smaller details of what each Suite
can do.

2. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were most useful?
I really liked the CD case project.  I think this is because we used
actually templates and I learned a lot about the bleed, etc.  Also, I
liked seeing the final, 3D project put all together in the end.

3. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were the least useful?
I didn't really have an assignment that I thought was the least
useful.  Some of them I already knew how to do and others I had
already done something that was similar.  But altogether, I think they
all served their purpose well.

4. What project or assignment was your favorite? Why?
As I mentioned before, I really like the CD project because I got to
see the final package all put together.

5. What project or assignment was your least favorite? Why?
I didn't really like redesigning the food packaging.  I think it was
useful but some reason I just couldn't get into the project as much as
I did with the others.

1. What you have learned doing your projects and assignments?

- i learned how to use photoshop, illustrator, and indesign as
individual applications much better, and also to use them all
together. and of course general wisdom about graphic design

2. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were most useful?

- all of the projects were useful, i don't think i can pick just one.
each one had a specific purpose to show us how graphic design really
is everywhere

3. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were the least useful?

- once again, i think all of the projects were useful, as were the
assignments because they helped to prepare us for the projects and
tests.  although, the illustrator book/exercises were sometimes a
little tricky

4. What project or assignment was your favorite? Why?

- i really enjoyed the cd design. it was fun to just be able to pick a
band, listen to some music, and let the art flow

5. What project or assignment was your least favorite? Why?

- there's nothing that i didn't really like, just some of the
assignments in general...the fact that it was homework even though
they had a purpose

1. What you have learned doing your projects and assignments?

I have learned to be more organized with my materials.  Everything
needs it's own folder.  I've learned to create in photoshop and
illustrator but combine in indesign.

2. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were most useful?

The CD was very useful because I learned how much a printer can screw
up your design.

3. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were the least useful?

I didn't like the airplane exercise.  It was too much tedious work.
But I may need it someday.

4. What project or assignment was your favorite? Why?

I enjoyed the package design the most.  Very rarely do we get to work
in the 3D realm.  Usually all our projects are flat.  It was nice to
switch it up.

5. What project or assignment was your least favorite? Why?

I think the CD was my least favorite.  I just couldn't get excited
about the project.  I had a lot of problem with various printers
making my design look different.

1. What you have learned doing your projects and assignments?
I've learned a lot about the CS3 suite; Illustrator, Photoshop &
InDesign.
I've learned there is a MUCH MORE to learn to all these programs.
Hopefully with more time & experience, I will be able to conquer them.

2. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were most useful?
I feel all the assignments and projects are very useful;
both to help you learn the software and to see how things are put
together.

3. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were the least useful?
I only wish we had more time/explanation during the exercises-
sometimes we really rushed through them and it was hard to follow.
Later it was hard to remember what we had done to get the final
result.

4. What project or assignment was your favorite? Why?
I enjoyed all three projects, but my favorite was the CD case,
because you got a 3-dimensional object in your hands in the end.

5. What project or assignment was your least favorite? Why?
I liked all the assignments and projects. Sometimes I wished I had
more time to work on them... time management and procrastination do
not go together!
It's been a fun semester and I've enjoyed being in class with
everyone.
I pray everyone has a safe and fun summer and I hope to see you next
fall.

Product redesign and I would only say that because I didnt really
like the box that I chose so I was working the whole time on something
that I didnt really like so that made it not so fun.

Please review all the projects and assignments you did this semester
and then reply to this post to discuss the following:

 1. What you have learned doing your projects and assignments?

I have learned that you've got to do alot of research in order for you
projects to be successful.  I also learned that you really should
figure out the details when designing in the beginning stages of
sketching so that you don't run into problems later during the
execution stage.  Patience is the key when working with Adobe software/
reading the books and alot of the learning experience is playing
around with the programs.

2. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were most useful?

The tutorials from Adobe and Photoshop books were actually helpful
because I applied what I had learned to the projects in class.  All of
the projects and assignments were useful.  We jumped around to making
different things instead of learning a limited amount and type of
projects.

3. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were the least useful?

They were all useful, I gained knowledge from every one of them.

4. What project or assignment was your favorite? Why?

My favorite assignment was the web mockup.  I enjoyed working with
photoshop because you can edit and play around with effects on
images.  PhotoShop is straight forward and gives you lots of options
to work with.

5. What project or assignment was your least favorite? Why?

The packaging was my least favorite because we had limited time to
come up with a design for the entire package.  For me, it was like
designing separate panels and trying to make them unify.  That was the
hardest part for me.

The packaging project was more challenging.  I think it was my least
favorite because it was complicated and the execution process was
extensive.

Some of the assignments consisted of so many steps that I lost
interest in a lengthy process.  Though, all of them were useful and
you can never lose anything when gaining knowledge.

What have I learned? Alot! I came in this year knowing nothing about
any of these programs and feel that I now have a pretty good handle on
at least the basics and some ideas of the possibilities. The best thing
I've learned is where to find the resources to answer some of my how-
to questions.

> 2. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were most useful?

The most useful assignments were the ones that demonstrated masks in
Photoshop and using the appearance panel in Illustrator. But all of
the assignments and projects were great learning tools. They were all
informative.

> 3. Which project(s) or assignment(s) were the least useful?

The least useful assignment was the blending exercise with the
airplane. It would have been more beneficial to learn about object
blending as well as color blending. The book gave a really poor
explanation of object blending.

> 4. What project or assignment was your favorite? Why?

My favorite exercise was the animation assignment. It's really fun to
watch your artwork come alive.

> 5. What project or assignment was your least favorite? Why?

My least favorite has been the CD project, only because it didn't turn
out the way I pictured it. This is why I need to take those art
classes!

The actual 3-D cd object was nicer to look at than the rendering we
did for the packaging.  I wish we could've done the same for the
packaging to see what it could look like.

I loved the website and package designs you did this semester. They
turned out really well. I agree with you about keeping organized. It's
so much easier to reference past exercises if everything is in a
binder. I used my exercise handouts for notes instead of a notebook so
the binder came in very handy. Keep up the good work and have fun this

Your line about learning there's so much more to learn makes me
chuckle. I know exactly what you mean. I'm impatient to learn all of
the ins and outs. It appears its going to be a long journey with no
end in site. I agree about being rushed on some of the exercises,

You're right - the cd project was a nice example of tieing all 3
programs together. I think your box turned out well. I understand,
though, what you mean about it not being much fun to work on when it's
not what your wanting to work on. I kind of had that problem with my

Anisa,
I  also learned the importance of sketching out the ideas at the
beginning. I didn't have all of my sketches thoroughly thought out
before the last project and, as a result, struggled a lot with the cd.
I hope I learned my lesson. I actually enjoyed the web mockup the
best, too. I'm going to spend the summer trying to figure out some
more secrets to Photoshop. I think we've only just touched the tip of
the iceberg with this program. I hope you have a great summer!
